Artist Statement

We often think of infinity as something that is boundless, indescribable, and inconceivable.  It cannot be measured or truly understood by the human brain.  In the midst of pondering this grandiosity, we forget that there also exists an infinity between zero and one.  An infinity, that, although we still don’t quite understand it, is just as big as the expanding universe.  This infinity abides in every place we go and in every person we meet.  We encounter it constantly and always have the opportunity to get to know it and be changed by it.

This series of paintings is a reflection on forming relationships with the infinities in my life.  It is about finding humor within hopelessness, becoming friends with the unknown, and allowing hatred and disdain to become gold and pearls.  It is about learning how to be human in an incredibly cruel world.  These works have been my road map amidst chaos and fear, love and delight, seeking and resting.  They haven’t always made sense, but that’s okay - very few things in life do.

These images are from my show set-up.  Due to quarantine restrictions, I was not able to get into the gallery to take proper photos after opening night. I wanted to include images of my yarn pieces as well as the paintings with fabric elements, all set up.
